The stage was set. As it were.
He and George had both agreed - Ten-Forward, the lights at a comforting level and the expansive windows offering a beautiful view of the stars as usual, wasn't decked out with any crazy nuptial decorations. No elaborate ceremonies or parades down aisles set to stirring soundtracks. It would be simple, relaxed, no big deal. They'd waited long enough for this, after all, and the important thing was that it actually happened according to plan.
So - Chris tugged at the fitted collar and then the hem of his formal uniform jacket as he paced back and forth, suddenly feeling warm and constricted - why was he nervous? No reason to be. None at all. He took a deep breath, straightened up and settled into parade rest, and glanced over at the guests already waiting. Those who weren't talking amongst themselves were watching him, laughing inside, he'd bet. Jim was sitting nearby sneaking looks at a PADD - making sure he had the ceremony down pat, probably.
Jim. His...almost-stepson. Still weird.
Chris chewed on the inside of his cheek, wishing everyone would hurry up and arrive. This was worse than waiting for exam results.
george kirk,
wedding!
