why are they called hedgehogs?

well, I'm torn on it, there is a group that cropped up on the internet that is all about making these note books, they are done int eh moleskine style so they wanted to call them something similar to moleskin and hedgehog was what she came up with .

I prefer the traditional moleskin, before Moleskine branded the name. BUT people get all up in arms about that.
