Labor

If Jaejoong were to be completely honest, home-cooked meals are less of his way of saying that he loves his band family and more of his own way of affirming that they love him.

No matter if Changmin moans and groans about not being hungry yet, no matter if Yunho and Junsu are careful about their diets, no matter if Yoochun’s put his serious face on and has holed himself up in a workroom to compose, they never fail to let Jaejoong push a steaming bowl of jjigae at them.

And though they may be grumpy after such a thing, Jaejoong can’t think of a time that he hasn’t gotten at least a word of thanks and praise.

So when Jaejoong thinks of it all in an honest mood, it’s a bit selfish, yes, but at the same time-

It’s too easy to remember six out of eight sisters being too grown up to play and his parents working all hours to bring them all up. Too easy to evoke the images of being alone in Seoul with friends too far away.

Labors of love, but an empty table is still too lonely to bear.

And now, when they aren’t suffering from their workaholism, Jaejoong takes the time to be selfish with the best family he’s had yet and take advantage of the jade table that sits next to their kitchen.

Jaejoong loves them best, after all, and it’s hard not to be a little bit selfish with them when he puts it like that.
