If the CBC plays Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" one more time I am going to rip my clock radio out of it's socket and toss it 6 floors down to Bloor Street.
is that the same song that kd lang and rufus wainwright and jeff buckley have recently covered? i have a sick and twisted love of that song and have not heard the leonard cohen version. who did the first one? ooooh so many unanswered questions!!!
The song is originally Leonard Cohen's. I believe kd lang first covered it awhile ago, but the recent rash of Cohen covers has everything to do with him being inducted into the Canadian Songwriter's Hall of Fame last Sunday (and rightly so). If you listen to Radio 1 through the day, though, they have played a zillion times. kd lang's version is currently holding strong on the National Playlist, and then everytime they would mention the induction they would play the original... and oh, it was too much. I do, however, also have a sick and twisted love for the song--it never fails to bring a tear to my eye, and I've just got way too much work to do to tear up three times a day!
haha, i don't have a radio at work and am normally listening to my ipod so i haven't heard this rash of leonard cohen coverage nor them playing hallelujah so many times in a single day.
i have been known to listen to all three versions (sans the leonard cohen version) in a row on my ipod on bus and train rides, though. sick and twisted, i know.
