sticky post!

As of 3 March 2017 -- 13 years to the day on LJ! and I definitely appear to be one of the last remaining -- I've done a MAJOR friends list purge. Anyone with a journal long-inactive that I don't interact with regularly on here pretty much hit the chopping block. If you'd like to be added back, though, feel free to pop into the comments!

Heh, I'm glad you think so! I have a tough time describing myself usually, but my LJ is so fandom-oriented, this was a bit easier.

That's awesome that you studied photography! I never went to school for it (other than getting certified, as part of my forensics degree, as a crime scene photographer last year), but I've been working with cameras and related equipment since I was a little girl; my Dad's been a professional commercial photographer (merchandise for catalogues, food for menus, etc.) for about 35 years.

I'm trying to segue into pricing my work, but without agency representation, it's hard. I'm working mainly in celebrity photography now, as my portfolio reflects, and which I enjoy a lot more than I could have anticipated. It's a very energetic field. I've always been intrigued by photojournalism, but I really don't think I have the stamina for it.

Heh, believe it or not, all the coverage of the forensics field on TV is making the classes very competitive (which is why it's taken me 4.5 damn years to finish an AA), and is actually negatively affecting the jury system! As to where I'll head... I can't get into forensics right now (I'm too young; I'm going up against people on their second and third careers), so if I try photography for a while and it doesn't work out, I'll try my hand at forensics again. I'd prefer crime scene photography, so I can be working with a camera in some way, but I'm also a certified fingerprint examiner and crime scene analyst ( ... )

I'm still trying to keep from going past the 200 mark, so I'm trying to cap myself on friending people too soon lately, lol. It gets out of control so fast! And then I do cuts later and feel like a horrible person, which is pretty silly, but there you go. You're more than welcome to keep me added though (if you'd like), and comment like crazy! I'm glad you're enjoying the spams. I really need to post the damn thing for 2x03/2x04 already, don't I? I move like molasses, you'll learn that very quickly. ;)

Heh, I'm glad! That makes me feel slightly less lame about being such a sloth. ;)

Hello! I friended you a couple of weeks ago and have been meaning to say hello ever since... Anyway, LOVE the Californication recaps - found you after failing to find any other web representation for this show! Or maybe I'm not looking in the right places. Anyhoo.

Only seems fair to let you know who I am, so yeah. I'm Catherine, I'm 27 and from the UK. Watched X Files for most of my teenage years although I slipped near the end. I'd also love to break through into pro-photography but I'm not sure it's gonna happen. Photos also on Flickr at http://www.flickr.com/photos/cjtrigg! Right now I'm a Theatre Manager for a university in London, and it pays the bills.

Anyway, I'm not one of those scary people who gets all personally offended by friending/not friending/de-friending, and all that junk. So obviously it's always lovely to have new friends but I'm not gonna scream the place down if you don't friend my right now!

Hello! I'm so glad you're enjoying the recaps! I... really need to get caught up with that, don't I? I take forever to do everything, you'll see. I'm usually better at staying on top of things, but this year they're doing that thing where OnDemand viewers see the new episodes a week early, and it's seriously throwing me off ( ... )

Hey Zellie! I remember friending you after being drawn to your journal by all the picspams quite a few months ago (don't know if you friended back but I understand with the HUGE flist and all) but I've really enjoyed all your posts ever since and the capslocky comment conversations we've had about David and The X-Files and Californication (I just finished the 5th ep, OMG HANK I'LL LOVE YOU, PROMISE!). And being a relatively new fan to the XF I've practically eaten up every fic or video rec you've made ( Devil By My Side has been on a constant loop for months now). And I always adore all the picspams and will probably never get sick of them (especially the ones of a certain gorgeous FBI agent). So thanks for providing plenty of fixes for my favourite fandoms!

It looks like I haven't added you back yet, but I generally do a rotation every few months or so, where I look at my profile and go, "Why haven't I added A, B and C yet?" and do so, lol.

I'm so glad you've been enjoying my posts, though! I always feel like such a spammy, rambly dork, so it helps to know that I'm not driving everyone crazy, lol. (2x05 was awesome, yes? Too good, too good! HAAAANK.) Also, never underestimate how much I love long, silly comment threads; I tend to perpetuate them.

If you haven't seen it yet, tell me you'll watch "Hell Of a Place"! It's my #1 XF fanvid at the moment.

Haha, it is still mind-boggling to me! Years ago, I started with just three readers, all of whom were friends and/or coworkers. And now...

That's awesome about the XF picspam! I feel you on that kind of project; that's how I've been about the XF caps site, lol. I'm such a sloth with it, it's horrible.

2x05 was very old school, wasn't it? (I mean, as "old school" as a show in its sophomore season can be, lol.) I think we all want a Hank, yes? He's a fuck-up, yeah, but he's trying so hard to be better. And he does love his women. And he totally breaks my heart repeatedly too. One of the hazards of loving Hank, I suppose.

Devil By My Side is still my favorite Mulder vid, definitely. Hell Of a Place was just so awesome though, I think I did an instarec post for it, lol. Too good!

Hi! I added you like a week ago. Don't really mind if you don't add me back though. Fairly laid-back on the whole friending/not-friending thing :)

Anyway, I'm Lori. Big, big, BIG fan of the X-Files and obsessed with DD since I first saw him. So you know, just ramble on about those two and I'll be a happy little clam ;) Also a Mulder girl but identify personally (a little too much actually) with Scully. Suffice it to say I love your picspams and Cali recaps, although fair warning, I have yet to watch 2x04 and 2x05. Sad, I know but the perils of a less than ideal internet connection... :(

I find it really interesting that you're trying to get into professional photography since that used to be one of my own career choices. I'm in a whole different field now but I still dabble in it.

Soooo...just wanted to introduce myself there. Might see me popping around your journal once in a while ;)

Hello! I'm glad you're here!

Hee, I'm the same way about DD (which is a little crazy, considering the first time I saw him I was eight, during the first airing of Conduit). He's just magic, it can't be helped!

I'm sorry to hear your connection isn't so great! That must be frustrating as hell; I remember when I had that problem, back at our old apartment (we pretty much had the worst service EVER there; my mother and I practically threw a party when we moved into our condo and switched ISPs). Trust me though, they're worth the wait! I hope the same is true of my capspams, lol.

That's cool that you're still into photography! I figure I may as well give it a shot, since I've had some amazing opportunities to add to my portfolio in the past year.
