Johnny Damon gave Boston several good years, he helped you get a World Series under your belts after 86 years of nothing. What was done to him last night was childish and just plain old rude and mean. Boo all you like...that's fine...but I really see no need for throwing money at him.
PS- I say all this not as a Yankee fan, but as a lover of baseball. Because, honestly, you can have him back as far as I'm concerned.
What kills me is that you're saying this from the point of a baseball fan and not a Yankees fan, which is good. Yes, he gave us a good years and a world series...but don't sit up at the press box go on and on about how boston is your home and if asked "would you ever go to the yankees" say "absoulutly not" thats lame. its half hearted and if he had just been up front about the fact that he was going to follow the money [ i mean who wouldn't? ] then people probably wouldn't be as pissed. he lead us to believe that he was here to stay. and he lied. hence, my strong dislike towards [some] professional sports players, politicians, teachers, managers, adults of authority, etc. not to mention, i think the money thing was rather clever. of all the things they could of done, it's not that bad. i mean, think about it. in the history of what red sox fans [and yankee fans] have either done because of happiness or anger, it's not the WORST thing you've ever heard of? people need to relax and laugh about it. i mean, do you think i care about
