Tonight was the candlelight vigil for Julie. It was silent and strange because those there who should have spoken couldn't, so we waited in silence and let their grief fall heavier and more potent than any sermon.

In less than one year, 2 people who have been co-workers of mine have been murdered at gunpoint in murder/suicide incidents.

There is nothing I can do to lessen the tragedy of such a loss, but if you want someone to talk to and just listen, just let me know.

what? what is this?? OMG! honey this is TERRIBLE! i'm so sorry!!

this news is just so distressing and unbelievable. what a huge loss. I'm so sorry.

Yeah, these were both tragic cases, in the case of Robert, it was really a huge blow for the community, he really was part of this city's foundation... and in Julie's case it was a huge loss for her family and friends... but mostly for her family. She had 3 daughters, all 12 and under.

Honestly... at funerals, I'm more of a "celebrate the life" kind of person than a "mourn the loss" kind of person... and I just want you all to know... if I croak before all of you, come to my funeral... it's going to be a riot.
