I'm sure everyone has heard by now of the crash of Flight 5191 early this morning at the airport here in Lexington. Forty-nine out of fifty occupants of the ComAir flight perished in the crash's subsequent fire-- to co-pilot was pulled from the nose by rescue workers and is in critical condition at the University of Kentucky hospital, presumably ( Read more... )

It's so awful. I found out this morning, because my mom called me. She was crying so much, because I was supposed to be on that flight. Luckily for me my parents changed my ticket so that I could leave a week earlier.

Yes, we should pray for the families involved. But we should also pray for the dead. How will they know they're in heaven unless we tell them? Even if "we each have a purpose in life", that doesn't mean we should be forgotten in the afterlife.

I completely agree with that. It's an often forgotten thing-- we pray for the people left behind, yet completely forget to pray for the people whose death provoked such prayer.

I also think it's part of our purpose to be remembered, if only by those who loved us in life. There's a kind of eternity in rememberance, no matter how many or even who is doing the remembering.

All that being said, I should probably stop posting things late at night, as I wind up only half saying what I am attempting to write, as is evident with the rambling comment. :D Thanks for your input!
