Vid notes (which include vid spoilers):
'Crashed' is the video that I had to start THREE TIMES due to computer and hard drive breakdowns. I have never had so many problems with a video. Seriously, computers were breaking down and hard drives were crashing as I tried to vid this song. I thought it was cursed. I swear, the computer knows and obeys. The third time I started to put this together, I changed the physical filename to 'Cant walk away' because 1) I wasn't going to give up, dammit, and 2) that title was benign to the apparently touchy, all-knowing computer. I had a clear picture of what I wanted to do and a clear picture of the type of effect that I wanted to explore, which is probably why I didn't dump this out of frustration when it 'crashed' the second time. I was determined to get this done and it finally is done. Thank god.
Regarding the masking effect, I first saw something similar in
erychan86's video 'What Hurts the Most'. I sought out to learn how to do it and I think I got it mostly. I individualized it quite a bit, made it slower for my song choice, and blurred the clips underneath to make it look three-dimensional and smoother on the eyes. Smoother, of course, because the acoustic version of this song is soft and smooth, thus it calls for the video clips to be the same. I also wanted to highlight certain clips while using others as background only.
I have made a BtVS video before, but it was for Spike so this is my first Buffy/Angel video. My initial thoughts were to make it shippy as well as devastating to the couple (because I love sadness) but the more I edited, the more that I wanted to make it all about how they loved each other in general. The end of the video may be taken as sad, but just like in the series, Angel's love for Buffy runs so deep that he has no choice but to walk away. In case you didn't notice, the first verse is Angel's POV, the second verse is Buffy's POV and after that it's mixed. I tried to mix them throughout, but it was much clearer and had more of an impact with them separate.
There is a HUGE amount of Buffy/Angel shippy scenes out there. When I started this, I was overwhelmed. In the end, I didn't even use them all but I would have loved to. There are some that I had no choice but to leave out, and I'm still getting a small, nagging feeling to go in and re-edit them in somewhere.
I will probably render this one with the rock version of this song, just for giggles! It wont fit as well as the accoustic version, but it might be fun anyway.
Please do not repost this on other sites such as YouTube. I appreciate it. Thanks for watching and for your comments.
Lyrics:
Well I was moving at the speed of sound.
Head-spinning, couldn't find my way around, and
Didn't know that I was going down.
Yeah, yeah.
Where I've been, well it's all a blur.
What I was looking for, I'm not sure.
Too late and didn't see it coming.
Yeah, yeah.
And then I crashed into you,
And I went up in flames.
Could've been the death of me,
But then you breathed your breath in me.
And I crashed into you,
Like a runaway train.
You will consume me,
But I can't walk away.
Somehow, I couldn't stop myself.
I just wanted to know how it felt.
Too strong, I couldn't hold on.
Yeah, yeah.
Now I'm just tryin' to make some sense
Out of how and why this happened.
Where we're heading, there's just no knowing.
Yeah, yeah.
And then I crashed into you,
And I went up in flames.
Could've been the death of me,
But then you breathed your breath in me.
And I crashed into you,
Like a runaway train.
You will consume me,
But I can't walk away.
From your face, your eyes
They're burned into me.
You saved me, you gave me
Just what I need.
Oh, just what I need.
And then I crashed into you,
And I went up in flames.
Could've been the death of me,
But then you breathed your breath in me.
And I crashed into you,
Like a runaway train.
You will consume me,
But I can't walk away.
And then I crashed into you,
And then I crashed into you,
Then I crashed into you,
Like a runaway train.
You will consume me,
But I can't walk away.
