Cool Meme! I need to consult with my family before I can finish this. We went on one of those cross country trips when I was a kid and I don't remember what states we visited. Filling it out from just what I remember I'm currently at around 54%. Granted a couple of those states count as long term airport visits or driving through on moves across country - but I have been in them.
I've traveled a lot in the US over the years - I think I went on about 5 different trips back East for school - I could (and have) given tours of all of the big historic areas in Washington DC. I've only been in the South Pacific, NZ, and Australia for international travel though - course I did live in Australia for 6 months - other than the outback, Perth, and Darwin I've been through nearly all of the major cities in Australia also.
That's just sort of embarrassing! You live in the UK and you've been to more states than I have. I'm gonna pull out the 'kids card' and say do you know how hard it is to travel with kids?! :)
Lots of time still to travel. Don't worry, I wouldn't have as much as them either because a lot of my traveling has been in Canada and we apparently don't count! ;-P""""" But maybe I'll do it anyway. Actually, I've probably been through a lot of places on the way to Florida and New Orleans, but I guess that still counts!
Truth to be told, I wasn't in some of them all that long while I was on my way to other states, but I have been there and did see them (through a car or bus window) so I figured it counted. Grade 10 band trip in 1984 to the World's Fair in New Orleans (by bus) and family trip to Disney World in 1976 (by car) covered a few states. But the rest I've actually gone to and stayed at and seen the sights.
Thanks, it is expensive with a family! And it's hard because they always have school or something going on. Planning is half the work.
You've been to Egypt then? I would so love to see those Pyramids! I think that'll be a long-term vacation! I had no idea you could cruise the Nile. That has me totally excited.
It was very much a childhood dream for me as I was always interested in Egyptian art, history and mythology - the hieroglyphs bore ;)
Yeah J & I went to Egypt in 1996 - We were in Cairo for 3 days and visited Giza (Pyramids & Sphinx are unbelievable plus CAMELS! ) then did the Nile cruise from Luxor for ten days finishing off with the Valley of the Kings and such for another four. The cruise was probably the highlight, there was only 30 people on the boat that could take three times that many and it was luxurious.
We had armed guard in Cairo when touring and unfortunately there is a huge section of the Nile where it is too dangerous to cruise (they had taken pot shots at the boats) so you miss out a whole series of beautiful temples - that said though we had an unbelievable time and one day we'd love to take Ellie.

Maybe buy a caravan and go road trippin'?
I wish I could buy you a plane ticket and you could come visit the UK. We need a mass fangirl meet up.

And by the way Egypt? Do try to get there one day - perhaps when it's a little more stable. Seriously it'll blow your mind.
