1 Km/h of freedom

Apr 25, 2020 19:27

Starting tomorrow, children in Spain will be able to go out for 1 hour as far as 1 Km from their homebase with 1 parent between 9:00 and 21:00. Maximum people together are 1 parent + 3 children. Any other kind of social interaction or approximation is strictly forbidden. Parks and recreational facilities are out of bounds.

My kids would rather ( Read more... )

It's a horrible situation, but it's nice to see Spain is taking things seriously, and I'm happy that you and the family are staying safe. Here in the US, there are so many ignorant people that I fear we're going to be seeing strong death tolls for many months. I hope our country can take this crisis and learn from it, but I'm not optimistic.

On the first day of freedom, many people were irresponsible. But many others were careful. Let's hope this doesn't get out of control again! In Spain (and Italy, and Portugal...) distances are closer than in other countries, both in terms of living and of hugging, kissing, visiting the elderly. So it spread lethally very quick!

I am really sorry you live in a country with guns and with, well, you-know-the-bleach-who. : ( Take lots of care and stay safe!

¡Igualmente!!! Espero que estés llevando bien el confinamiento... : ( ¡Ánimo!

Is that for all of Spain or only for Madrid?
Do you have to wear a mask? It's the law here in Germany now for public transport and for all kinds of shops.

All of Spain. But near the sea and in many other public places, people have started to ignore the distances and just mingle...

They are mandatory for supermarkets and stores, I think. I haven't been out at all since March 13th, so I am not entirely sure. It is recommended to wear them at all times, but if we put gloves on kids' (and masks on their faces), from where are they going to absorb the Vitamin D they need!? At least the hands must be out to get some sunlight! It is a bit stressful when they are my kid's age, because they tend to touch everything. So far we have only taken him to the rooftop in our building, as practice. He doesn't really want to go out anyway, so we are not forcing it.

Wait, what are you doing about food then? o_O; ...

It's a bit weird. Today was the first day and to suddenly see pretty much all people here in Germany with masks is ... so strange. :)
On of my reverse culture shock concerned wearing masks, it was hard for me not to wear them anymore. I got over it after 2 years or so ... and now it becomes not only common here, but it's the law? C'mon .....

Oh well ... I really hope you get back to a more normal lifestyle soon. *sigh* :( ....

Btw. little kids don't have to wear masks here.

At first, my husband went out to hunt... erm... shop. But after not finding simple things like bananas or avocados in three different supermarkets, we decided to stop risking it. You can get almost everything online: Amazon Prime Now is a great service which is covering for all those supermarket chains that are not available online anymore due to the high demand (online queues of up to 4-5 hours just to shop online, with a countdown! Deliveries available two or three weeks later, and so on!). But I also try to support local providers when buying fresh produce like fruit, veggies and meat. Of course, I always try to buy as many things as possible at one single time, so as not to waste the courier's efforts and health hazards. This has been quite the online shopping revolution for many Spaniards ( ... )
