1984, but if you get a chance, definitely read the other one, its is good, in a loopy fucked up kinda way...

personally, i absolutely could not stand 1984 & thought it was bullshit (and i know many people strongly disagree with me on this, but i could care less) i'm not saying the writing was bad, just didn't like the message at all.

i would go for the other one. mainly, cause if i'm not mistaken, its written by Kurt Vonnegut and he's pretty darn bad ass. if its not written by him then i've got no idea. to be fair though i'd always say pick the non-1984 book so i'm kind of biased

Mr. Eaton, 1984, and Fahrenheit were the only curriculum related things I enjoyed in all of High School

lol fair enough.

there's actually a group on facebook that captures my views best:

Depressing Dystopian Literature Exists Solely to Make People Feel Smarter

Description:
A group for people tired of others raving about 1984, Anthem, or other such overrated novels, and feigning insight by citing ways in which the books point out faults of our society.

sorry to tell you, but apparently slaughterhouse-5 is also one of those said Dystopia books.

Definitely read 1984, but I'm with Aamir in regards to Kurt Vonnegut being a bamf.
