Merlin 3.10 Queen of Hearts

Nov 14, 2010 16:11

You would think that after nearly three series of Merlin I would have become immune to the bad writing. Yet last night while watching this episode, I was literally rolling on the sofa laughing, trying to control my howling, so as not to wake the neighbours. IT WAS SO INCREDIBLY BAD.

Luckily, it was bad in an entertaining way, unlike certain other episodes.

And I'm not even talking about Arthur and Gwen picnicing in the woods, but the plotholes, inconsistencies and the wooden dialogue being so overwhelmingly awful that I spend most of the episode with tears of laughter in my eyes.

Oh dear. And what made the writing seem even worse was them switching the order of episodes 8 and 10, and Gwen now seeming oblivous about Morgana. Sadly, not even that particular misplacement in episode order can explain the complete absence of Gwen's brother...

I should try and rewatch the episode tonight and see if I will still find it as hilarious as yesterday. It's better to laugh than cry, right? Now I even have alcoholic glögg to enjoy during!

P.S. Still, I have to say, old Merlin was rather adorable, and Arthur talking about running away and becoming a farmer with Merlin while on a date with Gwen was made of gay unicorns and rainbows. (I may have been rolling on the sofa laughing then as well.) Oh, show.
