My brain feels like goo

Apr 16, 2005 03:16

A while ago I made a list of books that I would read when I got time/post HSC. Well now that I have time (despite HSC still partially looming) I cannot find said list. So. I'ma make a new one.

Books that I will eventually get around to reading in an effort to expand my horizons and not feel like I know nothing and to keep myself entertained on ( Read more... )

Get Nat to give you Sushi For Beginners!! A crappy romantic comedy fiction book that I have somehow become the pimp of. (and by accident (it was left in a suitcase) I now also own "who moved my cheese". there`s no stopping me.)

Have you read Wuthering Heights?!?!!!! dododo!!!

PS: was that a general question? I am also well thanks for asking.

"Blast from the past" Ben Elton. Really only good for a really good laugh, but it's well written non the less as long as you have a bit of a sick humour.

"The Testiment" John Grisham. Again, well written, not really good for much else but enjoyment.

If you really want something to expand your horizons, try:

"Don't let her see me cry" Helen Barnacle. Sad and yet uplifting. It's Helen's autobiography about her life as a drug user and being in jail and being a mother and so forth.

P.S. Imma good too.

It's a real tear jerker in some parts, but it's awesome. If you do really enjoy that try reading
"Go Ask Alice" - annonymous
"London Bridge is falling down" - Can't remeber the author. This one is about a guy getting AIDS.

just dandy, spank you!

OMG READ PERKS RIGHT NOW!!! it will seriously change your life. and fight club. yes, good. if you're looking for other chuck palahniuk books, i liked "survivor" a lot, but found "invisible monsters" was a bit shit.
erm...other books...i'm reading one at the moment called "dorian", by will self...it's a rewrite of "the picture of dorian gray" set in the 80s/90s, and the portrait is a video installation, and everyone but dorian ends up with hiv, and yeah...it's dark, but it's awesomely written.

ahahaha sushi for beginners is yours if you want it, it was sitting on my floor until my mum went on a cleaning spree in my room when i wasn't here and now...god knows where it is...but i'll have a look!

kinokunyia has it! in the "literature" section, i believe.
i would say i'd lend you my copy, but a)it's in canberra and b)i'm not sure how long i can part with it for.

prepare yourself for one of the shittest pieces of chick lit ever written...it really is really tacky and cliche.

White Oleander by Janet Fitch is very good and also Exquisite Corpse by Poppy.Z.Brite is brilliant. Its from the veiw of 2 serial killers who are gay. One of them is a Necropheliac and the pther a cannibal. It's sounds twisted but it is one of my all time fave's and i promise you wont be dissapointed. "Sybil" is also very interesting, about a woman who had 16 different personalities, dont know who wrote it though.
