I have a question. Would you learn anything by doing question after questions of things you already understood. Is that called teaching? because thats not what I think it is. It's called rote learning and it can be very effective for many people. It's the way you learn a language - using the words over and over again, the way you memorize your times tables - saying them over and over again, etc. Sometimes though, it just doesn't work for some people. Maybe that you.

I would guess he's trying to get to the point where you don't have to think about the problem, but simply concentrate on how you're writing the answer? I agree that rote memorization is useful in some cases, but that depends on what you're trying to do (i.e. you can memorize how to spell a word be writing it over and over, but you can't memorize every possible use of the word by writing a few set sentances over and over).

I agree it would be better if he could articulate what he was trying to help you learn and let you offer input, but I really don't know what to say.

I'm sorry to hear about all of that, in any case. *hugs* I'm going to miss you if you're not online-ish anymore.
