Chapter 1
He sits in front of the TV, and watches old movies, it what he had done since coming home that first night. Callie comes over with Sofia and talks to mark; she has to let herself in since he won’t answer the door, he never answers the door.  She walks inside watching as mark sit there, in his cloths from the night before, just staring at the tv. It’s almost like he’s dead inside and all that is left is his body. Not wanting Sofia to see him in such a state, Callie hands off their child to Arizona who takes a look at mark, and with sad eyes leaves, shutting the door behind her. “Mark.” Callie calls him but it’s no use, just like the last three times this week he doesn’t response

He hasn’t spoken to anyone since waking up in the hospital, He didn’t even stay at the hospital for follow up test to make sure he was ok, and that he didn’t have anything else wrong. Upon hearing about Lexie, Callie rushed to mark’s side, Finding the bed empty, And no sign of mark at all.

It only took Callie one minute to know where he could go, home, their home or what use to be their home. She went and knocked on his door, continued to knock until she had enough and got the super to open the door to find the apartment as silent as could be

“Thanks.” Callie said before the Super left.

Walking inside his bedroom she found mark, holding a purple top silently crying. She was shocked for a second; she had never seen mark Sloan cry, actually crying. But as soon as Callie came out of her state, she climbed on the bed and held him as mark continued to cry. She happened to look over on his nightstand on the left and saw an engagement ring, tears sliding down her face knowing it was the ring that was meant for lexie.

It had been the same every day, Mark wouldn’t eat, he wouldn’t slept, he would just stare at photo’s of lexie that Meredith had given him, Callie didn’t even recognize her friend anymore. She knew what everyone said was right. Mark Sloan died with Lexie that day; all that was left now was an empty shell.

“I’m going to make you something to eat.” She replied moving towards his kitchen

“No!.” He yelled finally speaking. “Get out!.”

“Mark.”

Mark didn’t move from his spot. “Leave.” He said one last time before she did as he asked.

Three months and eleven days he finally came out of it. “Mark.” Meredith asked, Derek and Meredith thought it would help him more if he was in the last house that lexie shared. Just being here for a couple weeks seemed to be helping a little. Meredith noticed he stopped crying at night, inside the shower when he thought no one would hear his cries after putting the water on.

But today he was Dressed, Meredith could tell he trimmed his beard and looking like he did before the accident. “Do you want something to eat; I can make you something, anything?” She asked.

“I’m fine.” He replied

“Are you … Are you going to work.”

Mark hadn’t been to work or even at the hospital, Owen gave him all the time he needed but Meredith feared all the time in the world wouldn’t help. Meredith, herself had a hard time of going to the hospital expecting to see her sister right beside her and Cristina. She still missed her sister terribly she figured taken care of mark took over and she could forget the pain even if it was just for a second.

“No.” He said and left

“O-k.”

Picking up Zola Meredith said “let’s go phone daddy. tell him uncle mark is doing better. ”

“Hi. I was going to come sooner but you know me being late is what us Sloan’s do.” Mark sat down placing the flowers right next to the grave, he never thought this was be his life, in his mind he was always the one who died first, after all he was fifteen years older. no. He was left in this world while Lexie was gone, he guess apart of him was gone to, the good part of him, the lexie part.

“Lex, I honestly don’t know what am doing anymore; I miss you, every day, all day long. We were supposed to have this great life, remember? You told me in ten years we would be in each other’s life, so why? Why did you leave me?” Mark said down next to the head stone closing his eyes from the sun. “I blame myself, I do and I know if you were here you would tell me I did all that I could. But I failed you, I know I did.” mark put his hand on the stone, He remembered what he had told Arizona before they got Rescued, he wanted lexie to be buried as a Sloan. She was going to be his wife, in his head and heart she was his wife. She was the only women he has ever really loved, getting married or dating was out of the question He met his soul mate and she was taken from him, he knew you only get one and now that she was gone, there was nothing left to search out. Women were just sex to him again; he would never let anyone inside ever again. He looked at the head stone, it was beautiful, something he thought lexie would love, something he never wanted to think about. But it read beautifully.

Alexandra Caroline Sloan.

After being silent for a couple more minutes mark continued, “I wish it was me all the time. I do, because I don’t want to live another ten or twenty years knowing that the women I love, you, you’re gone, when you feel like you’re so close. We were close, weren’t we?” Mark wiped the tears off his face. “I think we were. We would have had a beautiful life lex, I had it all planned, I know it sounds stupid but from the moment I became your boyfriend you owned me. I never saw anyone else in my life but you. I hope you know that, because lexie what I told you that day, it was true. I love you; I always have and always well.”

The beeping of the monitor filled the silent room. “Her vitals are stable, but she hasn’t woken up yet.”

“Good, keep me informed of any changes.” He replied hanging up the prepaid phone, throwing it away, as He left.
