“You look ridiculous.”
She whacked him on the chest. “I look adorable.”
“This is you being incognito?”
“What’s wrong with it?” She looked at herself in the mirror.
“It just looks like you’re trying not to be noticed.”
“I am trying not to be noticed.”
“And that’s how you look. You’re drawing attention to yourself.”
She frowned, looking down at herself - the green rain galoshes, the matching green rain slicker, big sunglasses over her eyes and bright yellow umbrella in her hand. As if responding to her weather appropriate outfit, a roll of thunder rumbled outside the window of their hotel. She lifted her head and looked at him.
“Fine. What’s your incognito look?”
He grinned and without a word, he put a baseball cap over his dirty blond hair.
She raised an eyebrow. “That’s it?”
“That’s it,” he nodded, smiling. He reached forward and gently removed her sunglasses. “The sun’s not out. You don’t need these.” He took the umbrella and tossed it onto the bed. “With the way you’re dressed, you’re not going to get wet. You don’t need that.”
“Anything else?”
He looked her up and down and she sighed heavily, waiting rather impatiently. She loved this city and she was rarely able to find the time to visit but she was here now and not only that, he was here, too. She wanted to take advantage and explore the city together.
He surprised her then by sliding a hand onto her cheek and kissing her softly on the lips. He smiled when a faint blush bloomed across her skin. He nodded. “Now you’re ready. You look like a girl about to explore London with her boyfriend.”
Leighton rolled her eyes but she smiled and took his hand in hers, their fingers instantly lacing together. Garrett grinned and making sure that he had a key back to their room, he opened the door for her. They began walking down the carpeted hallway towards the elevators and he noticed the slight bounce in her step and could feel the excitement practically vibrating from her body.
“So, I’ve never been here before. You’re going to have to show me around,” he told her.
“I’ll take you anywhere you want to go,” she gave his hand a squeeze.
And they both knew that wherever she led, he’d be more than happy to follow.
