So I have to admit… I've never read Oliver Twist. I also have to admit that, while I did read A Tale of Two Cities, I greatly disliked it.

However(!), I was intrigued by your piece and sat down to read it and wow… I loved it. I just loved all the descriptions in it, it made England (and even that little line about Australia) seems so real and just right there

That man was bending into the cart, paying attention to nothing around him. No, sir. Some things never changed, no matter how long he’d been gone from London.
I love that. I have a thing for thieves (yeah, not good, I know), and I could just see the thief thinking that in his head, smiling to himself.

I thought the scene where he actually stole the man's wallet was perfectly done, too--smooth as a reflex, wonderful.

The last lines were just perfect. :)

So, I know I'm not an Oliver Twist reader, and so I'm sure a ton of really important stuff in this went over my head… But I still loved reading it anyway. Fantastically well-written (as always!!). :)

Ugh. Dickens. Not my favorite. It took me an embarrassingly long time to read Oliver Twist and it's the only story of his I have read beside A Christmas Carol. He creates such amazing characters but I really hate the way he writes and I always feel like that's a secret I have to keep to myself lol

The Artful Dodger is an awesome character and I have always enjoyed his existence in the literary world lol THANK YOU so much for reading this and enjoying this because this was hard to write and I blame Dickens' style lol

And I have been meaning to tell you. They added the first season of The Following on Netflix Instant, which I immediately added it to my queue to watch so I'll finally understand what you're writing! It's easier for me to watch a show if I can marathon it so I'm eager to watch!

Ugh. Dickens. LOL, you make me laugh. (And I so agree.)

He creates such amazing characters but I really hate the way he writes and I always feel like that's a secret I have to keep to myself lol Ahaha, that is so cute! I don't think you have to keep it to yourself. Lol, I certainly don't. I hated A Tale of Two Cities. And I really hated Sydney Carton. But I haven't read anything else of Dickens', so who knows.

The Artful Dodger is an awesome character and I have always enjoyed his existence in the literary world lol THANK YOU so much for reading this and enjoying this because this was hard to write and I blame Dickens' style lol
You're so welcome! I found it really interesting, and loved your descriptions.
And, like I said, I've never read Oliver Twist, but I've always known of the Artful Dodger... I love that name. I just love it. :)

I am certainly not Dickens's greatest fan, but I loved this. I have always been so very curious about the Artful Dodger, and I felt like you certainly did him justice here! I loved your descriptions here. You always use such gorgeous language with an amazing flow.

I am not a Dickens fan either but I have always love the Artful Dodger. There are even some theories that he would become the next Bill Sikes - which is terrifying lol THANK YOU so much for reading!
