1) don't let problems w/ one friend keep you from seeing an amazing place. its not as if you're relying on him for a place to stay and considering how many people live in Hong Kong, the chance of you running into him is pretty slim (and even smaller if you stay away from computer stores :-p). Oh and if you do want to avoid him, he's about 1 foot taller than most people so you'll see him coming a mile away hehe
2) the flight time isn't too bad actually. i just bought 2 books and read them on the way over. music is also key so you can drown out the engine noise.
Another vote for going. Who knows when you'll next get the chance to travel halfway around the world? Unless you end up getting one of those horrible jobs that forces you to routinely travel halfway around the world. Hmm.
go, gosh darnit

You know that if you don't go, you're going to sit at home, being bored and regretting it. It's not often that you (or anyone) gets a chance to fly halfway around the world without having to front the bill, and you should certainly take advantage of it. Another thing to consider: do you have any plans if you were to stay upstate? Remember, there's not much going on in our loverly part of the world. Besides, we all obviously just want to be rid of you, even for a few weeks :-p (j/k). My vote is to hop on a plane or helicopter or dogsled or canoe or something and get your booty to the land of the rice paddies. Then you'd be in Jing's jurisdiction (Ambassador to the ____ Regions, Mainland). - Topher -
