In which I blab loquaciously about the French Open, food, my busy month of June and the Real World - Paris,
Andre-Lover-4-Life that I am, I must say it was sad to see him eliminated yesterday (not that I actually *saw* it, damn time zone differences). I think this Coria kid is going to be one to watch, though and I'm anxious to see how he does in the semis. I really wish I could see the women's semis too - Clijsters v. Petrova and Serena v. Henin, that's going to be some good tennis. I've always had a soft spot for Henin - I'm not sure why. The men's semis are going to be pretty exciting too...you know, I *haven't* called in sick in quite a while and it *does* seem like a pretty good excuse to me...
I came home last night to find my husband-to-be cooking diner for me! Fresh tiger shrimp in a really spicy red pepper sauce and black beans & rice. How creole. The best part was the glass of chardonnay he'd poured, just waiting for me to love it up. I can see how those 50's breadwinners enjoyed coming home to a cocktail and dinner already made for them. I suppose it's my turn to cook tonight. Hard act to follow.
I just realized I have shit going on every weekend the rest of the month and probably the rest of the summer. Let's see, this weekend - lake. Next weekend - Wilco at the Walker Arts Center and hopefully the lake. Weekend after - family in town for my marathon and possibly a Twins game. Last weekend of the month - Cyndi Lauper at the Pride Block Party (!!!) and probably the lake. Oh yeah, and I start my summer class a week from Monday. Can't forget about that.
Watched the Real World - Paris last night. Adam? Freak. I don't even want to begin to crack his issues, but if he sleeps with Leah, I called it. Chris? Honey? The hair. For god's sake. And what kind of initial nickname is C.T.? Fine, Ace is cute, but what the fuck is with his children's theater props box? Simon? Gah. A cuter Irishman I've never seen, and I'm counting Bono. I loved how they juxtaposed the straight boys trying to decide if Simon's a "homosexual" with Simon all but making out with Leah and Mallory. Hee.
On to the girls. I can't stand Christina already and I'm telling you, it's only going to get worse. She's not a stripper! But she has fake boobs! But boobs are overrated! Oh, and she's, like, totally cool with Simon being gay cause, like, she has the best gaydar ever and can like spot gays from a mile away and Simon should stop kissing Leah and be *her* personal gay accessory. Someone needs to tell that girl the only people who still use the word 'gaydar' are boring straight people trying to impress gay people with how hip they are. Loser.
Mallory seems really cute and sweet, which is going to pose 2 problems for her: the guys are probably going to fight over her and the girls (I'm gonna take a shot in the dark and single out Christina) are going to hate her because she's the one the guys are fighting over. I hope she hooks up with a really hot French guy, though I'm already worried about that trip her mom said she's going to make to visit her. This has Mormon Julie written all over it.
And Leah - I like her. She maybe needs to not tip her hand so much, but I can't say I have a problem with her at this point. Eventually she'll learn that it's not even worth it to try to argue with Adam.
Alright, that's enough of that. New Amazing Race tomorrow, yay!
