Rec me up and down

Hey, so it just occurred to me last night how tragically out of it I've fallen since college. I'm referring to pop music here, and the sad fact that I haven't read Spin in, oh, 4 years or so. I'm so out of touch with alt-rock its scary. Rhi always sends me these awesome CDs and I've never heard of any of the songs!!

You should ask Rhi for recs-- she's got exceelent musical taste

In my exceedingly biased opinion because of my personal connection to the group Soltero is an excellent up and coming indie rock band. You can download some songs here (I'd say get "The Moment You Said Yes" first. It's one of the catchiest).

Also, they've been around a long time, but The Magnetic Fields are pretty much my favorite group. If you are one of those crazies who doesn't like Stephin Merritts' voice he has lots of songs he doesn't sing released under Future Bible Heroes and The 6ths and some of his Magnetic Fields albums as well.

Also, the Dan Emery Mystery Band is defunct, but I really like their album Natural Selection.
