The SGABigbang Challenge

Aug 15, 2008 20:49

I did 3 pieces for the sgabigbang challenge (website is here) for 3 (John/Rodney)stories. The original versions of the art on the website are here: Midnight Confession, Mirror Image and This thing between us, all art G or PG rated, for a total of 3 Rodneys and 5 Johns (one naked, and one about as emotional as I could make him *g*).

Thanks! I like to include details when I can- the necklace is an important plot point, so it had to be there! The guitar is the only thing I didn't paint (and forgot to mention in this post, though I did put it in the original notes). It's the corner of a poster for a bit of extra texture to John's childhood bedroom.

I love your style so much - it's incredibly detailed but soft like pastels. It gives it such incredible depth and texture (makes me want to reach into the art and know I could feel the skin and hair). The expressions in the first are amazing - John looks on the verge of complete emotional break down (gonna have to read that fic). The mirror images in the next, the difference in skin tone, the nekkid Shep (sigh).... But to me the detail and color in the headrest of the chair just blows me completely away. And in the last ... I cannot quit staring at John's lips. Ooofta.

Makes me feel like a total amateur but inspires the hell out of me. =^.^=

It DOES look a little like pastels, doesn't it? This combination of digital techniques works for me but it isn't exactly like real paint *g*

Yay that you noticed the difference in skin tones in AU!Shep, and for liking the chair headrest Thank you! I'd love to find time to finish the portrait of John in the last one. It was only about 3/4s done and lacking in texture.

I've just been admiring the beautiful animal sketches at your journal and I'm seriously impressed by your ink technique (the shading! and fur), so I don't think you are any kind of an amateur *g*

D'aww, thanks!

I think my 'John & Shadow' is the best thing I've ever done - I still look at the original (which no photo or scan has done justice to) and think, 'Holy crap! I did that?" Took about twenty hours inking time.
