Since everyone is doing it and i'm such a trend follower... this cannot be avoided.
MOVIES OF 2009:
• UP omigosh what a thoroughly lovely movie. <3 The first 10 minutes or so are in my belief the best thing that has happened to the entire filming industry - ever. It's so heartfelt and honest and you just have to love it. Even the coldhearted bitches were moved. It's true.
• INGLORIOUS BASTERDS oh LOLZ. Swear to God, it's funneeeeh. So funny your lungs hurt after seeing it. The plot is interesting and weird (hello. Tarantino), the cast pretty (Diane Kruger omg) and actually talented. Even though i can't take Pitt seriously as an actor, 2009 is proving me all wrong goddamn. He *is* terrific in comedies. But but BUT Christoph Waltz. THE HERO OF THE MOVIE. Where have you been hiding you hysterical Austrian? ILH. And i can't even post the quotes because it's not about the somewhat funny lines but how he delivers them. Sheesh, brilliance!
• THE BOAT THAT ROCKED heee. That movie is here for two reasons. The music man, the music. & TomStu. But i'll just pretend for a moment that i'm not a lunatic fangirl who'd do anything living, breathing, with dimples and under 35 (with the exception of Hugh Laurie) and i shall focus on the music. I LOVE the 60s; Bowie baby, The Kinks, The Who, Hendrix, Procul Harum... i mean, stop me anytime. It's all win. <3 Oh and Sturridge was mega!cute, i had my squee moments, blah blah blah.
• BENJAMIN BUTTON lol Brad Pitt on my list TWICE? What is this? Hah, i'm sorry you didn't win an Oscar, but being on mah list is the next greatest thing, so yeah. You're welcome. That was seriously such a good film, the Beatles scene with Benji and Daisy just totally slew (slew? lol rly?) me with the cuteness. GAH, otp status for sure. Well done Brad, well done!
• HARRY POTTER SIX okay i had to. It's my thing. Ron/Hermione need to stop being so awesomely awesome. Harry and Ginny can pretend they are not relevant to the plot. They were so awkward, idk, dnw. But overall, it's HP and i will forever love it. <3 K bring on the seventh part!
• MILK So i was totally drooling over a gay man; or over Penn/Franco together which is equally disturbing. However, as much as i lovelovelove these two, it's not even about them. It's about the movie. The message it sends, the way it deals with the moral dilemma, the feeling of empowerment you're left with after watching this film. It's educational, it's moving and you need to see it. <3
LOL i'm so trendy with those movies; but i did see amaze indie/alternative ones that are not powered by the hollywood establishment. Believe you me. COCO Chanel and Bienvenue chez les Ch'tis are my favourites.
First is a must see, fashionable, refined, cute and uh la la so french! Audrey Tatuou! J'adore!
The second one is also frenchy (you wouldn't believe judging by the title, no?) and is quirky, bubbly, HILARIOUS! Also, Anne Marivin is a goddess. I was reassembling my jaw for two thirds of the movie. GAH, gorgeous!
GIGS OF 2009:
• FRANZ FERDINAND ilu boys so much. This year was the second time i saw them and they were even funnier and sexier than the last time. So insync, interacting with the crowd and gaah just A+ I ALMOST CAUGHT THE DRUMSTICKS TOO! But i'm such a weakling and the crazy muscly bitches elbowed the crap out of me to get it. I had a bruise for the next 10 days, lol. Whatever, next time. <3
• LILY ALLEN lol she was so high and drunk. I actually didn't find it possible for a person to stand, let alone sing properly, when so stoned, but she proved me wrong. SHE EVEN KNEW ALLL THE LYRICS K. I can't do that when i'm totes sober. Kudos Lily! I came there to sing Fuck you of the top of my lungs and that is what i did. So yah, cool story bro.
• MONTY ALEXANDER trio; if you're into jazz, you need to see them. omg, so amazing. They played their own stuff but also covered Marley's No Woman No Cry and Fly Me to the Moon. I got shivers. I am shivering right now just thinking about it. (and it's freezing - two digits celsius cold here right now so that might also be the contributing factor)
• MANDO DIAO ok i didn't exactly saw them. :/ Cause they happened to CANCEL THE TOUR THE DAY BEFORE THE CONCERT. motherfuckers. And they're like my fav band ever ever and my friend and i were fangirling for sooooo long hoping to see them. And then this shit happens. Of course. Idk how i didn't see it coming. I still have the ticket tho and they said they were trying to find a new date for the concert so plz plz plz plz baby plz make it happen. I NEED BJORN IN MY LIFE. <3
• YEAH YEAH YEAHS Karen O, you crazy bitch. She is fabulously weird. Heads Will Roll is forever stuck in my brain. It was a really fun concert, everyone was singing along and dancing (as much as possible). I'm their relatively new fan but they won me over with that performance.
• MOBY el oh el. He's well out of the ordinary. What i remember most about his concert is how funnily he talks. teheheh. He made some comments about politics i guess, trying to be lolsy, idk, i wasn't really concentrated... However, the woman that sang with him. My god, she was terrific. Especially in Natural Blues.
I'll do people and misc laters. (:
