Haven't posted here for quite a while, what with personal issues at home, work being insane since September, and sundry other RL interruptions.
But with the Christmas Holidays coming to a close, I just had to comment on this....
The New Doctor primarily because of the utter frenzy going on surrounding it. And would just like to say one thing

Um....
Maybe not.
Hey, give the new guy a try, yeah? Heck, I can even see Dan Radcliffe as the Doctor, so what do I know. OK, maybe not for a couple of years yet. Sometime, assuming the series goes on, they're going to have to go older, unless they want a teen for the Doctor, but older could be cool too. Hmmm, Ralf Fiennes? James Marsters? Ohhh, I bet Timothy Spall would make a fantastic Doctor. Or Brendan Gleeson? A good character actor, rather than a leading man type. *nods* Sure, I'm new to the Doctor, and don't know many British actors, but the series does lend itself to all kinds of possibilities.
I just want more Doctor, whoever he is. ;)

The thing about DanR that I could see working, is his enthusiasm. I could see him having so much fun with the part that it would work. As for AR, as much as I love the man, I'm not sure. Bill Nighy? Yes!
What I really want is to see Donna get her memories back, and maybe team up with Sarah Jane. I like Micky and Martha at Torchwood, and...
Does the Doctor have to be a man?
It's funny, much as I love Ten, Nine is my Doctor.

I don't actually know this guy at all, so I'll just have to reserve judgement until 2010. Am sad that David Tennant is leaving, though :(

You know, the more I think about it, other than the new Who not being black, I see a hell of a lot of parallels going on with the New Doctor and US Presidential Politics. ACK!!!!
('cept Barack Obama's ears are more like Eccleston's, of course.)
I think people need to give Matt Smith a chance. After all, shouldn't there always be a Smith in the TARDIS? (OK, I'll get my coat.)

You're right, same kind of childish short sightedness, inability to put either deal with reality or put aside favourites.
Might have been interesting to see what would've happened if Patterson Joseph *had* become the first Black doctor...I read some doozies of comments when Mickey came on board first, god knows what cretins would've come out of the wood work had the Doctor 'turned black'.
His ears still wouldn't have been as impressive as Ecclestone's of course.
