I think the holocaust and an attempt to take over the world would legitimize at least one of those earlier wars.
Most of the countries involved in that one were fighting to not become german speaking countries and were being attacked at home. Or were at the very least coming to the aid of countries already taken over and unable to liberate themselves. (Poland, Austria)
I don't think the causes of that war - and the war in Iraq can be in anyway compared.

Anyway, I'm not the expert.. that'll be user and that's not really what I was trying to convey.
I was thinking of the reasons that have been cited for the wars in Iraq and Afganistan... Like Weapons of Mass Destruction (Oops! They weren't there after all!) and rescuing Afganistan from the Taliban (6 years later people!) and thinking, that's a great PR line. In 50 years, is that how these wars will be remembered? Were the real reasons behind the previous wars just as F**ked up, and we've just been taught the PR line? Could that be the case?

Hitler did take over several countries - basically they didn't have enough of an army to fight back. Austria was taken in 2 days without a shot being fired. England aparently only entered the war when they started getting bombed.
So are you saying that the allies weren't justified in fighting or that they should have fought sooner when someone else got invaded - cause I'm confused as to the point you are trying to make with that bit.
