The Ultimate Dinner...

Oct 28, 2005 21:56

I was just watching Oprah Winfrey interview George Clooney on television. Aside from being a light and fun interview (and, man, is he deeeeeeelicious-looking!), she posed an intriguing question: What five living people would be the guests for your ultimate dinner party? It got me to thinking about mine ( Read more... )

Hm. I always thought Marilyn Albright would be a fun party guest, because she's smart and has (I expect) lots of stories to tell.

If I'm feeling un-introverted, Robin Williams and/or Nathan Lane would be fun.

Alton Brown, as chef and geek.

That's four, and if I had my druthers I'd bring sctmpls in for number five. If he's already assumed as being there, then maybe my friend AnneMarie, because I haven't seen her in a while since she moved, and I miss her.

David and Amy Sedaris. Either one might be a riot on their own, but them both together would surely evoke a more dynamic conversation.

Midge Ure. I'm sure after a few pints you couldn't shut him up - I love his music and his political rants - heartfelt, intelligent and provocative.

Rachel Dratch. I've never had a fag hag, but if I could pick, she would be mine.

Hillary Clinton. Midge and I could get her drunk and convice her to gossip about Tipper Gore.

i do wish it didn't have to be living guests, Julia Child would be HIGH on my list. Also Gregorie Galesps the painter...alas, dead you know.

so i would pick the Clintons, i'll call them one pick as they are a team.
Laurie Anderson for quirky brilliance and an engaging speaker.
Carl Hiaassen, just a WICKED dark sense of humor.
Alan Massey, my favorite college professor and truly insane sculptress.
David Bowie....endlessly cool old guy...been a hero since childhood.

and there it is.
