Who's Life Is It Anyway?

That's a question I often ask myself. When you've lived much of your life alternating between the isolation of shyness and the bravado it takes to not miss out on life's exciting moments, you often feel lost... lost in false images triggered by your fantasies and your fears ( Read more... )

At the risk of sounding patronizing, I have to say that was the most interesting thing I've read on here in a long time.

I go through life with those Morrisey lyrics in my skull, to remind me. Shyness is nice, and Shyness can stop you from doing all the things in life you'd like to... I don't think those fluctuations ever go away totally.

I can tell you, firsthand, that shyness never goes away. The best you can hope for is to keep it in check. One day at a time.

I have struggled a long time with self esteem and being some what shy. I did learn one important lesson. If you want something you have to go get it. No one else is gonna do it or bring it to you. I got to be in Radio for a short time. It was a dream of mine. Maybe I will do it again someday. Not worried right now though. But your words make sense. I hope I can apply them in some semblance to my own life and recognize when my 13 year old comes creeping around to show his head!

It helps to know that I've not been going through these feelings alone. Thank you for sharing with me.

And if your heart's desire is to be in radio, I hope it happens for you!

prepare to watch me to turn and walk in the opposite direction.

Just as long as that's what you want to do. Doing the opposite just because is giving other people buttons to push.

You could not be more right. I try to do that as much as possible... though I guess we all falter on that one from time to time.

Thank you for the important reminder. :)
