Very cute and strange! I had never heard of this Swedish tradition until I saw these pics in your journal. Interesting how their typical image of a witch is so different from ours... no black dress and black pointy hat and broomstick, just bright colorful shawls and head scarves and spots on the face? Very cute!!
Easter witches look different from the pointy-hat kind because they're friendly and not meant to be scary, I guess. I'm not sure how the tradition started. Head scarves are indeed a must though :) The typical costume is freckles, red cheeks and mismatched clothing.
