what it is.

I've been jealously hoarding my words in spiral bound notebooks lately. There are times when it's okay for me to feel exposed; right now I'm locked up in turmoil so I feel it's best to keep things under the bed. I've been thinking a lot. Thinking about words, one at a time. Crawling up inside and figuring out where and with whom they hang on a ( Read more... )

I love how you use words....

Friends. Yes, I've been thinking about writing an entry called "Who are my friends?" relevant to what you said. Maybe I'll work on that today.

thank you. i'm sorry i've been stingy with my words lately... i sometimes like to pretend the internet doesn't exist.

friends are a tricky subject. i know i can't be heart-to-heart with everyone i meet, but sometimes i realize someone i thought was heart-open actually isn't. i'm so sensitive to such things. i often feel like i have to be the one to extend the effort.

but life was not meant to be an easy riddle to solve. i just sometimes wish i had taken one or two psychology courses in college.

Most of my friends around here are ones who I say, "Hi, how are you?" to. I have a few good friends, and even fewer very good friends, with whom I tell very personal things to.

see, for me, "Hi, how are you"-in-passing-people are acquaintances. You know? It annoys me when people ask you how you are when they don't actually care what the response is. But maybe that's just me being persnickity. I've always had a need to connect with people on a deeper level than that. I'm realising for a lot of people, it's not so.

So many words with so many shades; friend, love, pain, happy. Oft I wonder if we don't need more words to express ourselves or maybe I don't know enough of them. I also wonder if other languages have handled this better than the lego snap-tite kit that is english. People that I wish i could be more frank with but am unsure of the particular shade of meaning that they will see today.

So I try to choose words carefully, hoard away I say; seems more of a selection process than greed :)

some also say there can be no wrong words when there ARE no words ... but that level of communication is rare.

by the way, I will be in Flagstaff for Robin's BFA show. I hear you may be in town as well?

that's the plan; I still have that bottle of wine i brought back from Maui; I figure you two will appreciated the bit that I don't drink... which is most of it. :)

Or would you say no to a bottle of wine?

Mmm, I would only say no to a bottle of wine if it was getting too fresh on the first date. And this certainly won't be my first date with wine (red, I'm assuming?).

I could only be more tempted if you said the magic word, "tequila". Heh. Desert girl indeed.

Baby-girl, I've had a lot going on so I haven't been in touch as much as I'd like. I think about you often and fondly. My phone isn't charged so I haven't been communicating much with anyone.

But love, I think of you.

I know you do, Blue. There's just a lot hitting me these days.

Boy logan is in town. I am taking him to see Lila Downs tonight. I have not seen him since ... before I moved, wow. There will certainly be lots of stories, lots of words.

Slab City is coming up soon, yes?

Love love.
