To most who speak American, I am not religious. At best, a poetic pagan, smiling open-palmed at the sun. But to those who speak the river's language, mountain-speak, of flowers slowly turning their tongues to the sky, I am the brightest of divine light, singing hymns to the rhythm of wind and water, tasting salty air as my communion. I wrote this after a hike last week. I can't imagine a religion without blue skies and red earth.

oh yum, I love writing after a hike. There's something incredibly transcendental about being out in nature for such a long time, just absorbing everything.

Religion encompasses everything.. it's mysticism in its finest form, if I may be so bold as to say that. People who don't have a strong connection to their environment and community... I find it easy to see why there is so much crime in some places (even where it may not be their fault, but because of government, etc)
