quickly now, rabbit-like

Landslide, deluge, rabbit-like. A plan rehashed when Jewel said, "We should travel together sometime soon." And I said, "Well, there's always Puerto Rico this summer."

This is going to happen.

The ocean is already dancing in front my eyes, palm fronds teasing my sunburned skin. Girl whose eyes match the sea. I have so much coming up in the next few ( Read more... )

Your dreams of Puerto Rico are like mine of going back to Scotland. Somehow going to those kinds of places becomes addictive. It runs in my blood.

I'd love to, one day, explore the lands you speak of. I think it would be good for me to experience another kind of culture, one that I'm not really very familiar with.

The roots of Scotland sing deep within me, but there's some of that wild child within me as well, of running alongside the beach and licking an ice cream cone at the base of a tree..

I think we are lucky enough that we can wander easily back to our soul's home. For me, it's not just Puerto Rico-I feel very at home just about anywhere Spanish is spoken. I want to get to Mexico, Chile, Peru, all these other places... in time.

Scotland makes me curious as well; my father's side of the family is part Scottish. When I was in high school, I was fascinated with everything Celtic. I have a penchant for argyle socks, and later learned my family came from Argyleshire. Weird.

I guess it's that I'm most comfortable with European countries, and how everyone is rather reserved (though sometimes I very strongly don't like Scotland for that reason, it helps that I and my family do have our own social circles), so the prospect of being comfortable in Central American or South American countries is a rather novel concept to me.

I love the indigenous roots there, and supporting causes for women and that sort of thing. I've been to Machu Picchu, Cuzco, Lima, Guatemala... And even though I've been to Scotland for more fingers than I can count on, I've yet to land in Ireland.

My dad's fully Scottish - he still has a slight accent and everything.
