The next chapter of The Clouds Can Talk too. It's quite somber, actually.

I'm not completely sure if it's the final version. Although it was intended a one-shot, I believe I'm making it a two-part, so here's the first.
Might still mess around with it here and there, but at least you guys will be the first to read it before I post it on FFN :)

So sad, but still good at the same time. You made the aftermath of the battle very realistic.
The first one I think was Kyuzo's sword. Weird how they kept putting him in there when he wasn't one of the main characters.

It was weird kinda of, killing off a character never really brought up before. but I got more interested in her brother after that, so I want to flesh out their story a little more.

Well, I think Kyuzo is one of the main characters, but he wasn't one of the plot twisters. In a way, it seems like he got most of his attention through the attention the other characters gave him, especially Kambei.
As for the songs, maybe it's another hint at the Kam/Kyuu angle? That's how I'm reading into it...maybe?

Your description of the evening is beautifully written and grounds the scene well. Poor f-Kyuu! The sadness is understated, which in this case I think works much better than a melodramatic treatment.

Btw, another S7 fan mentioned the Kan-Kyuu link in the sword images accompanying song too ;-) So you're in good company ;-) There 's a case to be made for it.
