IRON MAN 2!!!!!!!!!!
I liked it.
Beginning-Don't care much about Vanko, gimme Tony. Then: Classic Tony. Where's my "You Complete Me!"?? Loved his suit. Slight issue... they make prick-free diabetes testers now... does Stark Enterprises not have access to that technology for his blood scans? Glad to see Happy back. Stan Lee as Larry King was a giggle. An Audi? Really? Sighhh.
Justin Hammer. Ok, so he's not British or Old, but instead a whiny "competitor". If his shit always breaks, why is he even in the same league as Tony? Didn't like him at all through the whole movie. Annoying and slowed the thing waaay down. Also: He cannot and will never be Tom Cruise in Tropic Thunder. (See: Dancing)
OHH TONY HAS TECHNOLOGY. I love it. Biggest problem with me and these movies is I tend to oogle the tech and not listen to anything going on in the scene. "I have successfully privatized world peace." Saw it sooo many times in the previews and still loved it in the real thing.
Morocco was a little non-sequitor but ok, I'll go with it.
Ok, I'm running out of steam and can't remember linearally so I'm going with just going. Generalizations: Not enough background for Whiplash, too much Justin Hammer. The fight between Tony and Rhodey was AMAZING and Tony can be drunk in the Iron Man suit anytime. I was glad they included his predilection for the drink, finally, as well as spending more time playing with his mortality. I also LOVED seeing more of Tony's house and how it is all put together. Really cool.
Sam Jackson IS Nick Fury. Those parts were AWESOME and left me drooling for more. NOT ENOUGH BLACK WIDOW. Biggest disappointment in my opinion. I was hoping for SO MUCH MORE with her, and especially between her and Pepper.
The scenes with Tony looking through his dad's stuff were great. I loved learning more about Howard and the fact that as great as Tony is, his dad apparently was so much better, which intrigues me. I LOVED the moment with Captain America's shield. Not only was it funny as hell, but the audience reaction was PERFECT. A collective gasp upon seeing it, followed by a great laugh when Tony put it to use.
What else... uhh... There was a lot of Happy in this movie. I think there was more Happy than there was Pepper. I also was slightly miffed with the role Pepper was forced to play. Yes, she was made CEO, but they Hermione'd her to the point of my distaste. (Instead of being the intelligent intriguing woman character, they stuck her in there as the emotional reactor. Angry when he puts himself in harms way, scared for him as he's risking himself, etc.)
And after KNOWING, just KNOWING that Tony/Pepper was over, they KISS??!?!?!?! WTF?!?!?! Even after Happy saved her from harm! NO God Damn it! I just spent A YEAR getting over you two!! FUCK!! Tony you're supposed to be with Natasha and she's supposed to fuck you over!! Pepper is supposed to be happy with Happy!! Ohhh Justin Theroux... sometimes I just don't know.
So yeah. Even though I complain alot here, overall I REALLY enjoyed it and look forward to seeing it again. Robert was spectacular as always. I just love the way he TALKS in these things. He can just sit there and jabber at me forever. And the little nods to RDJ fans: "Mixed Martial Arts" and his continual glasses porn. I also truly enjoyed seeing his feet so much! He not only was wearing pumps the entire time, but you get to SEE it in this movie. And I loved connecting the preview stills that I've been seeing for about a year now with the movie itself. I'm mostly talking about these:
But also these:
Yeah I really loved this movie. I can't wait for The Avengers, as well as Iron Man 3. Oh why do they have to be so far into the future?
Also, the Twilight Preview got a COMPLETE AUDIENCE BOO as well as tons of "Sparkle" heckling and one "WHERE'S BUFFY?!" I'm so proud to know that I am not alone in my distaste.
