The Man wants me to put a subject in here

Yesterday we went to a toys/collectibles show in Kitchener. There used to be several of these shows a year and they all kind of sucked to be honest, but now there seems to be only one a year and they're much better (it also helps that we went early this time rather than not long before closing). I was surprised by how many dealers were selling ( Read more... )

They wanted to replace our water heater. The company we're with had warned people about this, so I was already wary, but they strongly implied they owned it and I had no choice in the matter so I let them in. Then they went on about how old and decrepit our water heater is, and they may well be right, but they were obviously pushing me to replace it and go with their company when actually they didn't own it and were basically tricking me into signing up with them.

Another way they were manipulating me was with the lousy weather (it was cold and raining and they had no umbrellas), and of course I couldn't leave people outside in that even though I wanted to call Stan in private to discuss everything with him first. And of course I had to hurry hurry hurry to sign that form because they needed to go, etc. They were basically banking on me being trusting and nice. They were clever, I'll give them that.

Ah, yeah, that definitely sounds dodgy. Good for you for sending them on their way.

I have a bad habit of buying things I forgot I already own, so I try to keep lists around whenever possible, but it only helps if you a) update the lists and b) bring them with you! I had my eye on an original copy of the Rogues' first team-up, though I know I own several reprints of it. I'd still like to own an original copy, but can't remember if I already have one. I'll have to check ( ... )

These days I post my stuff to LJ and Archive Of Our Own (a fanfic-specific site), and also link to my fics at a Flash message board. But even at AO3 I don't get much interest, especially not when you compare the number of views/kudos/comments other people get.

This issue, with Roscoe-punching action!

My Jewish husband demanded I let him buy a Nazi coin, even though I'm the coin collector between us. I also have a coin from Alexander the Great's time. And I'm currently fighting an illness. Are you sure you're not my evil twin? I swear I'm not making this up...or maybe I'M the evil one. Oh no! >:D

Oh cool, I have (I think) one ancient Greek coin, but the majority of my ancient stuff is Roman...it's more common. I don't have any Nazi coins, although somebody once gave me some paper money from that era. The stuff I saw last weekend was mostly medals, weapons and military gear, and even a clock with a swastika on it.

I'm pretty sure I'm the evil one :> But I hope you feel better soon! I seem to be better now, although filled with snot...

I love the appropriate icons :D Yeah, you're definitely the more outspoken of us. I still think we were separated at birth, though ;) And I really wish we lived closer. I could use an evil twin to pal around with and get into all sorts of adventures.
