Arrr, I don't know what I'm doin'.

So on Tuesday I'd felt depressed and opted not to go on Tumblr -- not particularly unusual. By Wednesday evening I felt a little better, though had been anxious all day. But that night I was struck by the worst anxiety about going onto the site for some unknown reason; not hyperventilating, but my heart was racing and I felt really scared and my ( Read more... )

The only reason I'm still buying it is because I like the way the art drives the storytelling, rather than the words, which is more usual. Because it sure isn't for the story or the characters. Oh and for the increasingly vain hope that we might see the Pied Piper again :-\ Considering he was hyped up as "going to be an important ally to the Flash", I'd expected a little more than one bad-ass rescue of Captain Cold, getting freeze-attacked, and last seen lying injured and bleeding from a badly-drawn mouth 9.9

I'd like Turnips better if he weren't portrayed so obviously as a Trudeau Salute to Top fans. As a character, he's pretty decent, about the only character so far who's developing something resembling a personality. He also seems to be becoming the "important ally to the Flash" that Pied Piper was promised to be. I don't mind that per se, but I wish they would just let Turnips be himself and develop under his own power. And I will continue to call him Turnips because that was the best Swypo I've ever made ( ... )

I would like Turbine under any other circumstances (he does seem like an okay character), but under these ones, hell no. Fuck those guys, frankly. In some ways I'm even angrier about the Lisa/Sam relationship -- they considered Roscoe so disposable that they could just swap in another dude to fulfill the Lisa's-boyfriend-Len-doesn't-approve-of-and-she's-tragically-separated-from slot. They wanted what Roscoe represents but they didn't want him, and then insulted me when I got upset about it. So yes, I'm pretty angry about it all.

As for your last paragraph, exactly. That's also why I don't allow anonymous comments on my blogs -- I know people will be vicious. Kennedy posted some angry thoughts about Seth MacFarlane's Oscar routine last weekend and people anonymously called her fat and ugly and somebody said they hoped she'd be murdered. Good going, Tumblr!

I don't shovel the backyard -- way too much work :> Basically we almost never go back there in winter, at least when there's snow (my next-door neighbour, the one who narks on us for our weeds, broke her wrist last year when she slipped on ice in her backyard). But by law you have to shovel your sidewalk, porch, and front walk within 24 hours of a snowfall. And I'd do it anyway because it's very hazardous to pedestrians. I had a good fall on somebody's unshovelled sidewalk a couple of years ago, which was loads of fun....landed on my back but fortunately recovered quickly enough to keep my head from striking the sidewalk. And many years ago my aunt slipped on some black ice and snapped her ankle clean through -- the bones broke entirely, the only thing holding her foot on was the skin and tendons.

I'm sure they're trying to do a good job, or at least a "cool" job (not necessarily the same thing). I like what they do with the art, it's clearly innovative. It's just that I don't think their writing skills are up to the task, ( ... )

Yeah, pretty much :> I went out far enough into the snow to take photos, but that's as about as far as I go. The steps leading down into the hilly area can be treacherous even when they're dry in summer.

She had to have her ankle put back together with pins, and I don't think it's ever fully healed. It was nasty. And that's why I try to make sure to shovel/salt everything carefully :P

Same here. You catch more flies with honey than vinegar and all that....

huh, weird, i was sure i commented here.

anyway, *hug*
it's just weird the whole roscoe not-roscoe thing. why? you split roscoe into two people!
i had that once in a beat´em up game....and that was okay because it was a "hit people with swords" game that knows it's 1% story and 99% hitting people.
this is a comic. it should contain much more story. and sense.

i'm still in the mindset of "this will blow over eventually", i cannot accept that this all that we'll have. hooray for denial!

I didn't get any notification, but maybe LJ ate your post :\ I'm still annoyed that I didn't see that ficbang submission post until March 1.

Thank you :)

It is pretty weird -- I guess they wanted more of a character hook for Sam, so they gave him some of Roscoe's role. If they were dedicated to the 'Tuskeegee airman' schtick for Turbine from the beginning, the Lisa's-boyfriend thing couldn't go to him. And in a sort of way, Roscoe was actually split into three -- Lisa isn't exactly a ghost, but she kind of is, so arguably that's another aspect taken from Roscoe. And this is one of the reasons I'm pissed off, because with everything taken from him, there's no way he can come back in any recognizable form. At least Wally or James or Evan can come back at some point, but if somebody wanted to bring Roscoe back he'd have to be so different as to be unrecognizable, or he'd seem deriative of Turbine and Sam and (arguably) Lisa ( ... )
