Whole lot of dads

Mar 09, 2013 05:09

I was petting my cat Abby a few hours ago when I noticed the backporch light had turned on, so I went to peek at who was out there....and saw Daddy Feral! (her father) There was no food in the dish, so he left, and as soon as he was gone I went out to refill it. He immediately came back to eat, and I got a bit of video of him :) (It's not very ( Read more... )

So much of medicine even now seems like little better than the proverbial blunt instrument, when I read or hear stories of this sort. It's good that the medication works as planned, but the side effects are vexing in their own way.

Yeah, it's a weird balancing act and doesn't work nearly as finely as people think. I'd noticed when I started on this drug that it made me want to eat all the time, and later learned it's a notorious side effect (and some doctors prescribe it to old people who don't have much appetite). So I have to fight against the urge almost constantly...with varying degrees of success.

Daddy looks like he's well fed and ready for the snow. I'm glad he visited you ^^

Also glad that Stan's appointment came back good, but what is up with your dad's brain? I think it's just being a smart ass at this point -_-

And I'm telling you: eat veggies. And walk. A lot ^^

He must be doing well for himself, yeah. It's good to see him and the others now and then; I haven't seen James' brother Spencer in a year, but he'd gone almost two years between previous sightings, so he may well be around somewhere. I fear for Mama because she used to hang around more regularly and sleep in our yard, but I haven't seen her since she was pregnant last spring ( ... )

You need to stick Stan in one of those John Travolta bubbles. He can roll around like a hamster XD

...I read that as "sometimes I get overwhelming cravings for crabs" o_o I need to get out of Maryland...

I got out of the house today. If I can do it, anyone can!

Pretty sure neither Stan nor my dad would tolerate that :> Both are about as stubborn as I am (which is to say, extremely so).

There was a crabs outbreak in my dorm when I lived there. People dumped their contaminated linens in the halls and bathrooms, for Momos' sake (fortunately I did not catch them).

I get out of the house when I have a reason to....but most of the time in winter I have no reason to, and stay snugly indoors. In summer I go out just to enjoy the weather, in winter I hate the weather. I needs me a weather machine.

Man, medical drama, it's 3 for 1, special offer.
I hope both your dad and Stan will not have negative effects and that the worst is over.
And hopefully your new old dosage will work out. I read somewhere that if you could substitute candy - should you get a craving - by protein bars which are very similar except less sugary. And full of protein.
But then I read in another forum that you should not eat more than 1 bar a day...and there's so much conflicting info out there -.-

Yeah, I'm really hoping my dad's problem clears up soon. It wasn't the news we wanted to hear, and I think he's getting frustrated with all the restrictions on him (he's a pretty active guy). My parents were going to visit my sister in the States next month, but now they might not be able to get travel insurance -- and they would not want to rack up medical bills in the US if he was to fall ill. Still, we knew there's a 20% chance it might re-occur.

And thank you :) I am definitely tired of feeling depressed and worse all the time; it's very draining. Tonight has been a downer night, unfortunately.

I try to eat fibre bars (to ensure I get a lot of fibre to combat my IBS problems), although have to make sure I don't eat too much fibre. I'd think eating a lot of protein bars would be fattening, but you're right about all the conflicting info...

He and Abby are both tubby :> But he's a tom so he's naturally kind of big, and I guess he probably put on some fat for winter. They both have very shaggy coats too, which maybe makes them look a bit bigger than they actually are.

Thank you :)

And yeah....it's a very inexact science for sure. Just kind of hope these things work, and that the benefits are better than the side effects.
