Bits of things I forgot

newnumber6 reminded me I didn't link to my con sketches from Fan Expo, so here they are. Also, my write-up of the con is here at Speed Force(In case you don't bother reading it, the funniest thing that happened to me at Fan Expo was when I was walking on Dundas Street in my Top costume, and ran into Toronto mayor Rob Ford. Yes, the mayor who allegedly ( Read more... )

Congratulations on being luckier than some who've encountered Mr. Ford in recent years!

Cool commissions! And you do have a good point in your writeup about commissions: I'm not buying much in the way of actual comics these days either (as it appears Marvel's current plan is dividing up every team I love and DC's wiped everybody I liked from existence and, sometimes, replaced them with similar looking characters with histories I don't know and I get the feeling they don't either), so I'm saving a lot of money that I used to blow on comics that I can blow on something more special. Maybe I'll consider trying to get a few more. (And it, too, is something that can be used as a conversation-starter... I mean, if I saw a Runaways cosplayer, I'd hope that I could mention "Yeah, I just got a Runaways commission, want to see it?", and the same goes for other characters ( ... )

Thanks! Yes, and depending on how chatty you and/or the artist are feeling, you can also have some pretty interesting conversations with them and other people waiting in line to see them. I've met some cool people who dig the Rogues that way. Cosplay is really good for that too ( ... )

I know, right? The funny thing is that Rob Ford finally confirmed he smoked crack like two days after I wrote this post -- after six months of denying it. Yeah, it was that guy, the mayor who put my hometown on the international map :> We didn't talk to Takei aside from exchanging mutual greetings because I didn't want to annoy him, but it was really cool to say hello to him ( ... )

If you can believe it, he still has a ton of supporters who think smoking crack and getting completely wasted on booze in public is totally okay. At least it's okay for him to do it -- I'm sure they'd be screaming bloody murder if it was somebody else. Local politics has become a three-ring circus around here since the crack story broke in May. It's definitely interesting, I'll say that.

The files were there at first (as far as I know), and just seem to have gotten corrupted or disappeared at some point. I really don't know, and Stan doesn't know what happened either. That makes me far more nervous -- when an IT guy has no idea what's going on. We're trying to do more frequent backups so we can catch anything else that mysteriously disappears.

Oh wow, changing so often would make me dizzy! I guess my dad has something like that on his computer, although more as a screensaver than a desktop.
