Got into AU! Might apply for a fellowship there, although in that case I had better finish my term papers soon, because the deadline for that fellows program is coming up fast

Hmmm... I'd say if you can afford it - travel! You might not have the time or money later and all travel is awesome and brain-expanding as you know. Any chance if you went to China you could explore bits of it you didn't see before - maybe take off touring with a cousin or dip into IndoChina? Angkor Wat is not to be missed if you get a chance to check it out.
Unless you think the lack of XP interning might hinder your future prospects?
I can afford it--within reason, I'd be better off going back to China than visiting Paris, for example. Unfortunately, I only have one cousin, and the poor boy is likely going to be busy with pre-university stuff (study study study, he's a good kid). I can grab an aunt though! I haven't thought about going beyond China, but I've never seen Angkor Wat and you know what, I would love to.
Nah, it would help, because let's be real there's no way it can hurt, but I don't know anyone my age who has a resume as decorated as mine. It just feels weird to not be constantly trying to get an edge in career-wise, you know? /lannister
I dunno where you're based in China, but often the harshest expense is the transatlantic flight. If you could grab an Aunt and nip to Cambodia on a couple of internal flights or sleeper trains it might not be too expensive. Cambodia is cheap and excellent, and Angkor Wat is just one amazing temple in a smallish jungle area full of incredible temples. Loads to see just in that one area.
WOOOOO YOUR IN. Honestly, not surprised though. Try for the fellowship, it can make up for a lazy summer.
Cuz you know, it is your last chance to be a waste of space?
if you find an interesting internship you should do it. but doing something for yourself is good too. I know ill want my summer for moving (soooo far away!) and relaxing in general, maybe even building up my motivation too. i have the feeling that im over-experienced, and getting anymore would feel like making a skin and prepping a site that would never open...
because I know what i want to do for grad school and the main point of an internship for me was figuring out what i wanna do.
Haha I suppose I'm not surprised either. Happy all the same though.
I'll definitely be trying to for the fellowship (it's deadline for apping is jan 16, and since all my term papers have to be in by jan, I'll have at least two weeks to write the mini-essay they want. hell, I'll probably take care of it while procrastinating on my thesis lol)
Ngl I can't imagine an internship that could be more interesting than playing videogames and rping/modding all day.
You're set on the Colorado thing? Because that's soooo far! You should visit DC again sometime over the summer btw. We can trade pokemon. :)
