Just got done listening to the news not that long ago, and they're talking about the latest health care debate, how President Obama wants to have a public health option. Yet it seems like there are a LOT of people who seem to think this is bad. A couple of weeks ago, a friend told me about what she heard coming from Sarah Palin's mouth, how the

The major problems with the health care bill seems to be two things:
1. People who don't work will get medical care. This seems to piss some folks off because it's something for nothing (think "welfare queens"). The idea that not everyone is fit or able to work goes right by these people.
2. Private insurance companies may disappear if a public option exists. Some fear that the public option will be pushed, resulting in there being ONLY the public option in the future and thus giving the government full control of medicine as we know it. 1984, here we come.

And I see what you're saying. It's sad that people think that way, especially since they're "secure" in what they've got. Ah well.
As for the public option, if it makes private insurance more competitive, then I'm for it. $125 a month for someone who needs insurance but only works the part time of part time is ridiculous!

Indeed; I just ran across another lovely comment that summaries into "poor = lazy; welfare = money for nothing". Of course, what really t's me off about lines like this isn't the fact that I'm being insulted (I'm on SSI & Medicaid ya know). It's that in the same breath these people claim to be good, honest Christians. Jesus made it very clear that we're to give to those less fortunate, something these people have the gall to mock and refuse! How can a person claim to have love in their heart with such words?!
Granted, I can be a hateful bastard myself, but even I have limits.
Sorry for the little rant; I figure you'll at least listen and maybe have an additional $0.02. Odds are if I confronted the people making these posts I'd get modded or banned. On a Christian forum, no less.

I can't even find a job right now because the market in my area is so damned competitive. At least 30% of the local population is unemployed. How can you hope to gain anything if there's someone out there who needs the job just as much as you do?
That's mostly why I'm trying to get my book typed and polished and ready for submission. I can't wait for the local economy to "get better".
