American Idol - guys' night
Wow, I love love loved Blake's performance of the 311 song. I am really digging Blake, and only part of it is that he's been choosing songs that are more my alt-rock preference. Actually I prefer more indie, alternative stuff but alt-rock will do in a pinch. Plus I think he's really talented and fun and actually pretty amazing. He's made strong choices and this was another one.
I also love Chris Richardson, who is adorable and he's a Virginia boy! He did Keith Urban this week, which I am not familiar with, but he did all right.
I think my personal fave is Chris Sligh -- I will always, ALWAYS go for a boy that's funny above all else. See, John Krasinski owns me because he's funny AND fucking hotter than the sun. I think it's really hysterical that guys are all up in arms about how Chris' wife is hot and how did he get a girl like that? Dudes. There is nothing puzzling about it. He's got a very funny personality and he's talented and seems pretty smart and down-to-earth. Of course his wife is hot. Duh. Anyway, he did pretty well tonight, not great, but pretty good.
I'm not enjoying the Ryan/Simon banter this year. Plus the Simon/Paula thing this year is really tiresome. Do they hate each other? are they secretly in love? I'm finding that I'm not always agreeing with Simon like I normally do. Tonight he said that Pearl Jam's "Jeremy" wasn't a good song. Sorry, Simon, but WTF? Sundance actually did a pretty good job with it, I thought. Not amazing, but probably good enough to be back next week.
Dammit! Sanjaya just played the Hawaii card. BASTARD. We are probably stuck with him until the bitter end, like Jasmine Trias.
Jared is hot and smooth and has a great smile, but I can't root for anyone from Long Island. Except beautifulday72. What is with all the Stevie Wonder? Nobody has the voice to compete and they don't change the songs enough to make them their own, so everyone sounds so weak in comparison. It was just all right.
I enjoy Brandon well enough, and I love that he's a classical pianist, but I don't really get into his performances. I've only seen a few seasons of this show, but he's no Bo, or Jennifer Hudson, or Fantasia, or LaKisha or Melinda, or anyone who really kicks it in their performances. Oh! And it looks like Simon agrees with me. Or I guess I agree with Simon.
Phil Stacey "the bald guy" - I love that Phil is in the military, and I think he's a good singer. But I don't think much of his performances either. Plus, I don't think he sang well tonight. Really seemed off.
Hope the girls do better tomorrow night. But that really isn't saying much this season.
