I just finished reading his emails and can only say how much my family and I appreciate him and all the soldiers over there fighting for us. I lost a cousin on 9/11 in the WTC and so Steven's joining up after that day is especially meaningful for me. I know your family must be missing him. I'm very sorry for your loss. :(
I'm so very sorry about your cousin. Stephen felt so strongly about your cousin and the people who died on 9/11. And once he was over in Iraq, he felt so strongly that our servicemen and women were helping bring positive changes for the Iraqis in their daily lives, building up the infrastructure. He wrote often of the joy that the servicemen and women would bring to Iraqi kids just by giving out soccer balls and beanie babies. I try to focus on that, so that I can remind myself that every now and then, there is some tiny good that has come out of that horrific day. But it's really hard, so I can't even imagine how hard it must be for you and your family. *hugs*
I am so, so sorry. But thank you for sharing. It's so easy for the war to get lost in national consciousness, but I feel like we all need constant reminders of the people over there right now and the job they're still doing and the sacrifice they're still making.

He seems like he was a hell of a guy. I'm sorry for your loss but I think I'm also pretty glad you knew him.
Hugs?
