A loser says what is the what?

There's so much I've forgotten to tell you. And if there's one thing I am, it's a sharer.

I went to beautifulday72's wedding a few weeks ago, and there I saw dear friends ratphooey (who looked gorgeous in a light moss green jacket that perfectly matched her beautiful eyes) and the dapper tssandwich -- I hadn't seen them in years! I got the scoop on #s 1 and 2, and was refreshed on the macarena and electric slide by the ever-graceful Phooey, who you should know is a terrific dancer. I did not spend quite enough time with her. It was so wonderful to see K. again and to see her so very happy. She was a radiant bride!

I "ran" a 5-k in September, the 9/11 Memorial race that supports the Arlington Police, Fire and Rescue Squads who responded to the Pentagon that day. I use quotation marks because I walked more than ran as the race began at a very hot & humid 6pm. But I finished in under an hour, so I met my goal! My dear friend and biggest cheerleader Kate came all the way to Arlington to do it with me. She's such a wonderfully supportive friend and I love her!

We're going to run the 2009 Disney World half marathon together. But it turns out I agreed to run the 2008 Marine Corps Marathon here in DC with her, and I either forgot or thought she meant the 2009 marathon. So, I'm committing to it here: I'm running a marathon. Next October. H-hold me?

David Eggers is appearing at a DC bookstore tomorrow, but at 2pm. 2pm! I'll tell you what the what is: it's freaking ridiculous to be doing a reading in the middle of the afternoon when noone who could buy the book can actually leave work to go. So I'm not going to go. If I happened to be less devoted to my job, I would go. But if I were any less devoted, I wouldn't actually show up every day to this godforsaken place, so.

I have also promised myself that I am attending next year's Office Convention, and the Screenwriters' Expo (as long as neither conflicts with the Marine Corps Marathon. I guess.) And I'm only allowed to attend the Expo if I finish a spec screenplay by then. So. That's what I'll be working on this year, in between masochistic long runs, I suppose!

I saw the 2006 Cannes Palme d'Or winner The Wind that Shakes the Barley this weekend, and WOW. Terrific film. Plus, Cillian Murphy OMG. He makes James Marsters' cheekbones look downright fleshy. If you are at all into period dramas, or family dynamics during wartime, or a bunch of hot Irish guys with hot Irish accents, do yourself a favor and check it out!

Now more than ever I want to go to Ireland and visit the town my family is from. WHICH, OMG, I just found out because I visited the webpage, sponsors a MATCHMAKING WEEKEND. Holy cow I wish to God my passport wasn't expired.

For an enchanting weekend of music dance and singalong with the
Ardara Matchmaking Weekend

Sat 3rd Nov - Patrick Feeney
Sun 4th Nov - Hugo Duncan performing in the Ballroom of Romance on Sunday evening.

Matchmaking, speed dating, blind date or just a good week-end of fun!

Contact: Stephen (087) 2424590

Because it's a pretty remote place and the landscape and seascape are supposedly out-of-this-world gorgeous, I plan to do this 11-night bike tour all around the county. Then I want to spend a week or so in one or two towns just to finish soaking it all up, and so I can have a one-night (or maybe a one-week!) stand with a hot Irish guy of my very own. What? You know, you can't expect me to get to another continent for Matchmaker Weekend on such short notice! My passport is expired and everything!

I have tix to see Clap Your Hands Say Yeah at the Rock n Roll Hotel in a few weeks. When I characterized the band for my dad as "indie rock," he thought I'd said "Indian rock." Which, what? He must have had Bollywood on the brain. Not that I don't like Indian music; I love it. Especially when it accompanies a guy on a white horse stopping traffic in Center City Philadelphia on the way to his wedding ceremony. But that's mostly for the spectacle factor.

But I still have to find someone to go with. No one I work with has heard of CYHSY; I've gotten so many blank stares, I've convinced myself that I made the band up and they're a cool little secret I share with people on my flist and JKras. And I'll tell you what is the what with that: I am the coolest securities lawyer in the WORLD. THE WORLD!

I'm so jumpy this afternoon, because I decided I'll be spending my evening catching up on all these awesome fics posted last week and today. OMG is it 6:00 yet?
