I will eagerly await your ideas for":elegantizing" your home. My own tiny haven is also due for some sprucing up and paint. Currently we are 4 adults, 7 cats, 3 parakeets, and a fake pomeranian living in slightly over 1300 sq. ft. My mom will, hopefully, be joining us soon as we can find room for her- she's 100 & still living on her own.
Your pics are lovely. How can you look at flowers and not smile? Nothing brightens a day like an arrangement in a vase/glass/pitcher/milk bottle/teacup/teapot sitting in the middle of the dining/kitchen table, or a single bloom or 3 tucked into a bookcase. Unfortunately, 3 of our kitties have a penchant for trying to eat them, and one loves to knock them over, so flowers have been banished.
A fav of mine for this time of year is white tulips with deep blue dwarf irises.
I love that you have so many pets with you - I would love to have more animals again but with travel making such things difficult, I must be content with just my 2 chooks who live with my parents. I miss them so much when I'm away

It looks lovely! I've never seen real tulips, I'd love to see some. let's see, from the flowers which we get here commonly, my mother loves tuberoses (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polianthes_tuberosa) - they're cheap and simple and beautifully fragrant. just a small bunch can make a room smell divine and fresh. :)
I love tuberoses too, however here in the UK they are classed as 'exotics' and are usually really expensive and quite hard to get in florist shops! That makes you a very lucky girl. Our hyacinths are sort of similar in shape and colour range, but the flowers are more clustered and the perfume is heavier.
