I wish my father and my grandparents who would be besides themselves based on their experiences growing up in segregated areas...protesting for Civil Rights...serving in the segregated units of the Korean war and more...I wish they could have lived to see this. I am beyond words for the cultural impact in my life, proud and hopeful in a way that I haven't felt in a very long time. I am overwhelmed.
But speaking as one who voted with my conscience for the person who matched closest to my political views ( as I have always done no matter the party), I am very, very happy.
Oh my god, is it really true? I -- I don't know what to say. I wasn't convinced the U.S. could elect a black man. But we did. Oh my god. I think I'm going to go cry. And so early, too. Oh my god.

I'm still hoping that North Carolina will end up blue in the end. We tried hard here, so I still have my fingers crossed.
