On the other hand, clearly the mob healed up fully beforehand, or he wouldn't have been able to loot the corpse. So, its not like he got it easier or anything.

I think the lv 74 woman just accidentally aggroed it and didn't want to take the effort to kill it, so she just stun-locked it for a while and it left.

Well, only according to WoW's mechanics. In other games it's possible to kill a PC-weakened enemy for drops.
