I'm sorry, but I know little to nothing about modern Brazillian music. Really, all I know of Brazillian music is regarding a few good Bossa-nova artists, particularly Antonio Carlos Jobim and Astrud Gilberto. The soundtrack to Black Orpheus has a few good Bossa-nova highlights, especially considering that it was made by Jobim himself. I've also heard great things about Nao Wave and the Sexual Life of The Savages(both of which being late '70s-early '80s Brazillian Post-punk comps).
Well..to start you off: There's always Bebel Gilberto, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Miucha, Joao Gilberto..
Randomness: That dumb song by Kaoma (But, you seem more like a bossa nova girl, so forget the lambada). And, I'm really fond of "Caramel" by Suzanne Vega.
Songs: Insensatez, Manha De Carnaval (You should watch Orfeu Negro, by the way. I love love love love love this song and frequently sing it..but in english.), Tico Tico (silly song. again: I don't think you'll like it, but it's worth mentioning), Corcovado, Dindi, Mas Que Nada.
Nowadays: SEU JORGE, Brazilian Voices.
Well, it depends really. Are you into bossa nova? Or are you a samba girl (which I doubt)?
That's all I can think of now without looking at my mp3 player.
I'm definitely more of a bossa nova girl, which was an impressive assumption seeing that you didn't read any of the other comments. XD But that's probably only because I haven't listened to much samba. Also, I've been listening to Mas Que Nada nonstop. I'll illegally download all of those.
Additionally, I'm familiar with Seu Jorge because of The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou. Thanks a bunch for the recs!
