New scanner may replace metal detectors

The federal government will begin testing a body-scanning machine that could eventually be used instead of the metal detectors passengers walk through at airports.

Metal detectors were already pushing the edge of warrantless search, I think these types of devices go well over the edge.

Which brings us back to the question of whether it is allowable for a private business to violate your Constitutional rights even if you "consent" to it. (Consent is in quotes because you're only really consenting to the exchange of money for the service of transport, the search is just added on.) And since it's a federal agency doing the screening anyways, it's not even a private business doing the violating any more.
