Who: Vladislaus Valerious (
downwithturks ); open
Where: The library of Castle Valerious
When: A winter evening in 1437
Vladislaus was not by nature a scholar. Quite the opposite, in fact; he yearned for battlefields, war and triumph in the name of God. As the eldest son of Valerious the Elder, however, and so heir to the line, he knew his education was also important. Not just science and mathematics, but knowledge of tactics and past campaigns; discovering where his ancestors had gone wrong so that he might avoid their mistakes.
Besides, it was the depths of winter, a storm was raging outside, and the library was, at least, more welcoming than any other part of the castle. Of course, if another form of entertainment should present itself, it wouldn't take much to get him away from the book he was pursuing.
How would anyone unexpected find their way to the library of Castle Valerious in conditions so ill-suited to travel? It's the goddamn Van Helsing-verse, use your imagination. Anything goes.
