Its good to know someone cares. I was doing laundry with the hubby tonight (at a laundry mat, because our dryer is broken) and a wash of memories came over me and I began to cry. Abuse is not just physical. It can be carrying two army duffel bags full of dirty laundry two blocks away to a laundry-mat, washing, drying, folding, and hauling back home all the laundry, and then being questioned about every second you were there because the bastard won't come with you to help! *tears welling up again*
I'm a lucky person to have escaped and found the mostst caring, gentle man I could wish for to love me like I deserve.

For what it is worth, some of us are doing something about it. The truth remains that there is a lot more we need help doing. Political activism is an important step in changing the laws to be something more fitting. As it stands, there are very few people (and even less money) willing to go at it. The laws need to be changed in every state. We need money to provide councilling for victims. We need public support. That often means taxes, and few people want to chip in there
