To do ROTC or not?

Sep 22, 2004 18:46

Today I have really been examining myself and whether or not I want to continue pursuing ROTC. I told myself I would give it a week or two no matter what, and so I will. Never the less, I have been raising serious doubts about whether this was the right choice. I have that gut feeling that this is not for me. I am not allowing myself to make up ( Read more... )

As a fellow cadet... teenydancer September 22 2004, 15:55:39 UTC
hey matt, don't fret, because sometimes I question myself of the same things. Am I really supposed to do ROTC? well, I still haven't gotten an affirmative answer on that one, but I have until the start of next year to decide that. sometimes I come out of lead labs and some pt's just bursting with happiness and laughing and smiling because of how fun it was, but other days, I come home in a bad mood and ask myself why I do it. I think that its just to early to tell what I think of the whole thing, but that's just me. I think you should give it at least another week, maybe even one more lead lab. and you have it a little harder than I do, I have 4 different days I can go to pt, so that's a lot of options, and my class and lead lab are both on the same day, which helps a lot as well. if you ever want to call and talk about any of this stuff, you know my number, and you know that I'm always there to listen. keep your head up, the answer will come soon enough, God has his ways of showing us what's the right path to choose :)

You are serving... kfuller September 22 2004, 17:49:55 UTC
Matt, there are many ways in which one can serve their country. You don't have join the ROTC or the Navy, Air Fore, Army...etc. In my opinion (and im sure everyone else who knows you would agree) you ARE ALREADY serving your country. You are politically involved. You understand what is going on in America. Unfortunately, most people dont know, they dont care. You are serving The United States, by supporting your President, and stating YOUR beliefs to make America a better country. That IS serving your country. I don't know anyone more involved than you. If I ever have a question regarding America, I come to you, because I know you will know...and if you don't you will find out ( ... )

Ok Matt, it is my time to give you advice and what little wisdom I posess. I know that you have been thinking about this for a few weeks now, and it has been a constant thought in your head everyday. I am so proud of you for wanting to do ROTC. If I could I would do it here...just to belong to something. Sorry if I go off on some weird patriotic tangent...I had to watch Nazi propaganda for two hours =(. Anyways...I know you are big on this whole doing what God wants you to do. But just because you are unhappy at the present moment doesn't mean that it isn't what God wants for you to do. You dig? If you honestly hate it and it makes you so stressed out and worried that you can't be Matt, then that is probably a good hint that it maybe isn't for you. I know it is stressful, but I think you can balance all that stuff because you are just that talented. Take your time with this...don't make any decisions in the midst of feeling emotional. Whatever you choose I still love you, even though I think you would look cute in a uniform ( ... )
